The style of your portrait should be determined by its purpose; how you want it used and how you wish to be seen.
I provide a personal and individuasl approach to all my sitters, whether individuals for business profile images for media, models for fashion style magazines or families for personal home display prints.
The mood you want portraying in the final image will be largely determined by the experience of the portrait sitting. Not every portrait sitting is meant to be a "fun" experience. Enjoyable, yes, but not necessarily always fun. If you want a serious looking expression with harsh masculine lighting, you don't want too much laughter during the photography sitting. A skilled professional portrait photographer works with the sitter to create the mood for the images you're looking for.
My skills in portrait photography lighting are one tool to help enable me to accomodate for all kinds of moods, expressions and the feelings encapsulated in the varying styles of portraiture photography: serious, genuine, fun, contemplative, natural, anguish, happy, in love, anger, beauty, drama, weariness, exhileration, humility, grandeur...
